Akasa Air enhances pet travel service
Indian airline Akasa Air has announced upgrades to its pet travel service,
‘Pets on Akasa’ now allows passengers to travel with two pets in the cabin.
The airline says it has transported 8,500 pets since launching the service in late 2022.
The Pets on Akasa service is available to and 24 cities, which include Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Lucknow.
This move stems from the airline’s customer-focused approach and adaptability to evolving passenger needs, the release said.
Passengers flying with pets are assigned a pre-booked window seat, and get priority check-in and baggage delivery.
They can also board earlier than other passengers.
Akasa Air has also partnered with Umeed for Animals Foundation, which is a non-profit animal rehabilitation and rescue organisation.
The airline works with the group to formulate best practices for the service.
Akasa has also reduced the minimum booking window to 24 hours before departure, down from 48 hours.
The carrier has a fleet of 30 Boeing 737 Max aircraft, with more than 200 planes on order.
