Allegiant game show to air this weekend
Allegiant Air is hoping to reap the rewards of sky high ratings when a new game show airs over the weekend.
The first episode of ‘The Game Plane’ will be shown September 20 on 143 stations across most of the nation, which was entirely filmed aboard Allegiant aircraft.
So far 40 shows have been made and there is already talk of a second season.
Most of the shows were filmed on Allegiant’s Boeing 757 jets to and from Las Vegas.
The game show’s contestants and audience were all real Allegiant passengers, playing for grand prizes such as all expenses paid vacations to be handed out on arrival at the destination.
The show also includes special ‘turbulence games’ in the air.
‘Game Plane’ producers pitched the idea to Allegiant which was keen to be involved, according to spokeswoman Jessica Wheeler.
"We did a few practice runs with their production team, made sure they understood our safety guidelines and then pretty much turned the plane over to them when we reached our cruising altitude."
"We want the public to associate Allegiant with fun and we benefit from the exposure in a number of places where people don’t know us," Wheeler added.
She said the airline provided seats and space for the production crew to film but were not paid for hosting the show.
