‘Almost 15.5m to book in peaks period’
An estimated 15.44 million people intend to book holidays between the end of Christmas and February.
Nine per cent of those were expected to have been purchased during the first week after Christmas.
The findings from Sainsbury’s Bank research reveals that consumers intend to spend around £677 per person on holidays with 19% intending to spend over £1,000 per person.
People in London and the Midlands are the keenest to book a holiday in the New Year peak booking period, where 36% respectively are planning to do this by February.
Only 28% of people in the South of England plan to book early, the lowest recording in the country (see table).
