Alpharooms.com claims soaring transaction values
Total transaction value achieved by alpharooms.com has increased by more than 87% from £34.5 million in 2007 to £64.7 million this year.
Customer numbers also rose from 365,000 in 2007 to 654,000, according to the Sheffield-based travel website.
The company’s upgraded website highlights ATOL protected travel content prior to customers completing their booking.
The aim is to make it “crystal clear†if the flight or holiday chosen is protected before payment is made, the company said.
Founder and managing director Jason Fry said: “Following the recent demise of a number of airlines and tour operators, we have made the conscious decision to offer greater transparency for consumers about which flights and holiday packages carry the ATOL logo and offer full financial protection.
“Some of our competitors seem to be avoiding obtaining a license and we hope the CAA enforces the existing rules so that we have a level playing field.
“Our priority is to make sure our customers are fully informed and that they know they are receiving extra protection when they book an ATOL-protected product with alpharooms.com.â€
He added as the company marked its 10th anniversary: “We’re committed to growth and will expand despite a struggling market by continuing to make improvements to the site to the benefit of our customers.â€
