American Airlines asks Supreme Court to resurrect JetBlue alliance
With a new Administration in the White House, American Airlines is trying to resurrect its planned Northeast alliance with JetBlue.
The DOJ sued to block the alliance due to competition concerns but American is now petitioning the highest court, hoping for a different outcome.
It has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to reverse the decision.
It has asked for a SCOTUS review, claiming the ruling got the application of antitrust laws wrong.
The airlines failed to get the original ruling overturned in federal court last year.
The alliance between the two airlines would have allowed them to coordinate and market flights together and revenue share.
The Department of Justice said the alliance would reduce competition and drive up the cost of airfares from New York, Newark, and Boston.
