American Cruise Lines to resume sailing next month
American Cruise Lines aims to be the first line to resume sailings.
The river cruise operator plans to start cruises on American Song on the Columbia and Snake rivers starting from June 20.
Sister ship American Harmony will then cruise the Mississippi from June 28.
Although it is not mandated, ACL will only operate at 75% passenger capacity.
ACL ships have a capacity of less than 250 passengers so are not prohibited from sailing under the current CDC ‘No Sail’ order.
It meets the minimum 450 square feet of space per passenger and ships are equipped with independent HVAC air systems that do not have shared ducts.
Enhanced sanitation measures include personal protective equipment available for all guests and crew members, and medical screening when needed including Covid-19 testing.
Regularly used touchpoints such as door handles and elevator buttons will be cleaned hourly.
Pre-boarding screenings include temperature checks, and staterooms left empty can be utilized as isolation rooms if necessary.
The line says it could restart Alaska cruises in late June or July aboard the 175-passenger coastal ship American Constellation.
