ANA gives Boeing a boost with Dreamliner order

Thursday, 26 Feb, 2020 0

All Nippon Airways is betting on the coronavirus outbreak being only a temporary crisis.

The airline plans to buy up to 20 additional Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

That is a welcome boost for struggling plane maker Boeing and marks its first order of 2020.

The deal includes a firm order for 11 787-10 planes and one 787-9.

It has an option for five more.

That will make ANA Boeing’s largest Dreamliner customer with more than 100 aircraft.

"Boeing’s 787s have served ANA with distinction, and we are proud to expand our fleet by adding more of these technologically advanced aircraft," said Yutaka Ito, ANA executive vice president.

Separately, ANA said it will acquire three new 787-9 jets from Atlantis Aviation Corporation.

The 787-10s will replace ANA’s Boeing 777 aircraft on domestic routes.
