Apple Leisure Group takes controlling stake in Spanish hotel brand Alua
Apple Leisure Group is expanding its Europe footprint with the announcement it will take a majority stake Spain’s Alua Hotels & Resorts.
The Alua portfolio will be integrated into ALG’s European business.
The deal will now give ALG the management of 16 properties and more than 4,000 rooms across Spain.
Javier Águila, CEO of Alua Hotels & Resorts will head up Apple Leisure Group Europe as president and takes a seat on the ALG executive committee.
Jordi de las Moras will remain as Europe regional managing director, based in Palma de Mallorca.
"This acquisition is just the beginning of ALG’s European expansion plans and future contributions to the market’s burgeoning tourism sector," said Alex Zozaya, CEO of Apple Leisure Group.
"The addition of Alua Hotels & Resorts to Apple Leisure Group’s portfolio is a true testament to our strong commitment to growing our company footprint in Spain."
Alua will be positioned as ALG’s main midscale brand.
