Arrests following rape of six tourists in Mexico
Six men have been arrested in Mexico in connection with a rape of six Spanish tourists on holiday near Acapulco last week.
The women were raped and held at gunpoint by masked men who broke into their rented beach house on Playa Bonfil in the Barra Vieja.
Following the attack, the UK Foreign Office said it advised extreme caution outside Mexico’s main tourist areas and said the Mexican government had committed federal agents to assist with the investigation.
The attack allegedly took place over several hours. A seventh woman escaped after telling the attackers she was Mexican.
According to reports, the six men arrested have confessed but police are still looking for one more suspect.
