Asian airlines will merge or fail – BA boss
Airlines in Asia will follow Europe and the US and consolidate while the weaker ones will fail.
The prediction by British Airways chief executive Rod Eddington was reported by financial news service website Bloomberg.com.
Reportedly speaking in Tokyo, Mr Eddington said many Asian arilines were heavily subsidised by their governments, dealying reforms in the industy.
He is quoted as saying: “You will see genuine consolidation and true liberalisation last in Asia. The best Asian carriers will continue to be global players.”
