Assock takes on Online Travel Group role
Lawrence Assock has joined Online Travel Group as head of sales and commercial development on a long term consultancy basis.
He will also oversee the independent company’s product department.
Assock, a board director of the Institute of Travel & Tourism, has more 26 years experience within the travel industry working for companies such as Cosmos, International Leisure Group, Thomson, Inspirations, Mark Warner, Destination Care and Sunworld.
The Online Travel Group’s brands include World Travellers, WorldSki, Cheap4hotels, Cheap4ferries, Cheap4Carhire, Cheap4travelcover and Ski Extras.
Assock said: “I have been consulting on a part time basis for Online Travel Group since last September and have learnt a lot in terms of the online travel business.
“When I had achieved my goal at Destination Care I decided to take a non executive role and retained my shareholdings and decided that I would make all my experience I have in the travel industry available on a consultancy basis.
“The board at Online Travel Group seized the opportunity straight away and offered a long term consultancy contract which will cover development across all products.
“The first of these is to continue the success of www.skiextras.com which was launched last year and was very successful with travel agents for ski accommodation, lift passes, ski hire, travel cover and transport.
“I will also be looking at developing World Travellers Disneyland Resort Paris and hopefully bring this product to the trade with a new online booking engine which is at development stage.”
He added: “Even though I have a long term consultancy contract I will still be available to discuss other consultancy roles and I will also continue to be very active in my duties as an ITT board director.
“Our industry is going through big change and to some it might be frightening but to others like me it is exciting and full of opportunities that will shape the future.”
