Atlanta Airport planning electric vehicle charging stations

Monday, 01 Dec, 2015 0
The world’s busiest airport plans to install electric car charging stations in its new parking garages which are scheduled to be built over the next few years.

"At the moment, we are anticipating 18 charging stations across multiple parking structures. We expect demand to grow and we will adjust accordingly," said Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport spokesman Reese McCranie.

McCranie recently announced  major plans to double the size of parking decks to eight levels at the airport’s domestic terminal.

It will be completed gradually in several phases so that enough parking spaces are available throughout the construction.

It is expected to take at least eight years and cost hundreds of millions of dollars.

"People won’t be impacted until the fall of 2017. We will have a replacement deck in place once we start construction and replacement of the parking structures," McCranie said.
