Austrian Airlines withdrawal not a disaster for business to Austria from Australia.
Austrian National Tourist Office Australia Director, Astrid Mulholland-Licht told The Mole in Vienna today that while she would prefer that Austrian Airlines was not withdrawing from the Australian marketplace in March, it was not devastating, with a very strong side benefit being the access now being provided through code share services via Bangkok with Thai, picking up Austrian’s services to Vienna from Bangkok, resulting in an even better services for Australians travelling to Austria and Europe.
Astrid also said that travellers from virtually all other Australian cities could now also travel on Austrian direct to Vienna from Bangkok, having connected to Thai’s services. Previously to travel on Austrian to Vienna they would have to have travelled via Sydney or Melbourne.
She also believes that we should see the positives out of the situation and forget the negatives and this will be the approach of ANTO in Australia.
