‘Avatar’ land to open at Disney next year

Walt Disney Co has confirmed a summer 2017 opening for its upcoming ‘Avatar’ land in Orlando.
 
Disney Parks & Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek gave more details about the attraction, which is under construction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
 
Speaking to fans at a weekend event in Orlando, Chapek said it will open ahead of the long awaited ‘Avatar 2’ movie which is tentatively scheduled for a Christmas 2018 release.
 
New renderings were unveiled for the ‘Pandora – The World of Avatar’ attraction which will feature a Na’vi River Journey ride within the ‘bioluminescent rainforest’ and the Avatar Flight of Passage aerial ride.
 
At the same time Disney said new elements of the upcoming Star Wars Episode 8 movie will be added to Disney’s new Star Wars Land attractions.
 
That movie is slated for release next year.
