At the same time, partner Iberia will move its eight daily services to Madrid into Terminal 5 from Terminal 3 to give passengers a smoother transfer between BA and Iberia flights.

Head of UK & Ireland sales and marketing Richard Tams said: "We’re very pleased to be able to offer additional capacity to some of our more popular routes.

BA will offer additional shorthaul flights to its most popular destinations such as Barcelona, Brussels, Bologna, Rome, Hamburg, Paris Orly, Prague, Helsinki, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Manchester.
