BA pilots ‘preparing for strike’
A union representing pilots at British Airways is reportedly preparing for an all out strike by almost 3,000 members at the airline.
Action is being threatened over potential changes to their pension scheme due to be unveiled at rhe end of next month.
The airline’s main pension scheme has a deficit of £900 million BA is anxious to cut the costs it incurs.
A spokesman for the British Airline Pilots Assciation is quoted by the BBC as saying: “We will do whatever to defend these pensions.”
Pilot concern centres on the possibility of the scheme being changed from one based on a final salary to one based on an average salary throughout their career, according to reports.
