BA suspending all Heathrow to Abu Dhabi flights
British Airways has announced it will suspend all Abu Dhabi flights for several months.
The flight suspension is due to the airline’s ongoing Rolls-Royce engine issues.
It has been suffering long delays in Rolls-Royce delivering Trent 1000 engines required for BA’s 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
Flights between March 30 to October 25 2025 will be halted.
BA only recently relaunched the route after a pause of several years.
“We’re disappointed that we’ve had to make further changes to our schedule as we continue to experience delays to engines and parts from Rolls-Royce,” the airline said.
“We’ve taken this action because we do not believe the issue will be solved quickly, and we want to offer our customers the certainty they deserve.”
“We are able to offer the vast majority a flight the same day with British Airways or one of our partner airlines,” the BA spokesperson added.
“We continue to work closely with Rolls-Royce to ensure the company is aware of the impact its issues are having on our schedule and customers.”
It is not the first route impacted by the engine delays.
British Airways cancelled all flights to New York from London Gatwick due to the Trent 1000 engine issue.
BA is rerouting booked Abu Dhabi passengers via Doha and Dubai, while Etihad Airways flies direct to Abu Dhabi.
