Barrhead Travel is to create 80 new jobs as part of a new expansion phase.

The travel group will invest £1.5 million to create a mix of new full and part-time roles across its network of Scottish outlets.

The Scottish west coast will see the creation of 50 new jobs – with the company’s HQ in Glasgow welcoming the majority of the new roles.

The new jobs will be within the sales, marketing, IT and HR teams among others.

Edinburgh and the east coast will see 20 new jobs while its stores in the north, including Aberdeen, will welcome 10 new staff.

Barrhead Travel, founded in Glasgow by Bill Munro in 1975, is Scotland’s largest independent travel group currently employs 750 staff across the UK.

Sharon Munro, chief executive of Barrhead Travel, said: "Business growth and reinvestment continues to be front of mind for us.

"We’re looking for experienced travel agents, call centre staff, business development executives and foreign exchange cashiers to start immediately.
