Provides opportunities for visitors, for travel trade and for local people

Biggest-ever green destination gathering announced Best of Romagna in its top 100 at a packed gala event in a historic green European capital.

The Sustainable Destinations 2016 Top 100 was unveiled in Europe’s Green Capital Ljubljana on World Tourism Day and Green Destinations Day, and Best of Romagna was one of them.

Best of Romagna’s unique combination of specialist destination marketing, superb local partners and enormous green tourism potential ensured a place in the Global Top100 Sustainable Destinations.

This historic region in the heart of Italy is situated between Florence and Venice, the Apennine Mountains and the Adriatic Sea.

Full of culture, Romagna has many UNESCO World Heritage Sites as well as ancient customs, a wealth of local food and wine and a superb local cuisine.

They say that Romagna is full of hills and historic castles, great food and wine – just like its neighbour Tuscany, but it doesn’t have so many visitors. So, unlike Tuscany it is unspoiled, consitent high quality and not as pricy. This means that visitors get a less hassled experience – like in the olden days.

So what makes it sustainable? BestofRomagna.com works with local producers and artisans to create a vibrant visitor economy directly bringing financial benefits and business opportunities to local people.

As a result of this activity, visitors enjoy high quality local products and services, fulfilling experiences of local built and natural heritage, glorious art, heartfelt warm welcomes – in all life enhancing experiences.

Moreover to keep the value of tourism in the destination, rather than working with OTAs, Best of Romagna works direct with the travel industry through a network of travel agents – creating and selling reasonably-priced, commissionable small group experiences. Prices start at less than$900, €800, £700 per person for 7 night tailor-made arrangement with meals excursions, transfers and local accommodation. All this ensures that visitors get the best out of the destination and locals get to offer their finest food, wine, artisan products and unstinting hospitality.

The effect is to offer really integrated visitor experiences – 360 degree visits including everything that makes Romagna unique. The result – happy visitors, happy communities, happy travel agents!

"We offer FAM trips to agents who are always enthralled with Romagna" Said Valentina Rattay of Best of Romagna – "They find that their clients line up to book when they return, so there’s usually a group as a result. They really love the personal attention and hospitality from beginning to end – and our partners love to show them The Best of Romagna!"
