SHANGHAI – After nearly eight years of preparation, and several trial runs, Shanghai is ready for the 184-day World Exposition which opens May 1.
Some 189 countries and 57 international organisations have confirmed their participation in the largest-ever expo which is expected to attract more than 70 million visitors.
Shanghai has more than 72,000 volunteers at the 5.28-sq-km World Expo site.
The 2010 Expo will run until October 31 under the motto “Better City – Better Life.”
Shanghai World Expo has listed a number of prohibited items from the expo site. They include “delta wings, paragliders, hot air balloons, model airplanes, kites, or any other flying objectsâ€.
