Bike mania for Tasmania

Wednesday, 09 Dec, 2010 0

The Tasmanian Government and events organisation, USM Events, have launched the Launceston Pro-Ex, a new event offering amateur cyclists from across the globe a chance to be part a professional cycling experience.

To be staged from November 20-27 , 2011, the Launceston Pro-Ex presents more than 200 amateur cyclists an opportunity to join some of Australia’s top professional cyclists on a week-long training camp and compete in a 160 kilometre Gran Fondo road race.

Keen amateur cyclists will experience living, training, eating and competing like a professional.

The Launceston Criterium will fall within the Pro-Ex schedule, which traditionally attracts some of the country’s best cyclists.

USM Events director, Michael Hands “Launceston’s unbelievable cycling traditions and success in producing world-class cyclists provided us a compelling argument for staging the world’s first Pro-Ex here.
