Birmingham airport strike suspended following last minute pay offer
Birmingham Airport strike action has been halted at the last minute.
It comes as 150 Birmingham airport security officers and terminal technicians were due to walk out today were offered an improved pay deal.
The indefinite airport strike is off while Unite’s members are balloted on the new offer.
Should the offer be rejected, continuous strike action would begin on 1 August, Unite said.
The strike would have impacted security and terminal maintenance operations leading to delays.
The airport and TUI this week announced contingency plans to minimize the impact.
Unite is Britain and Ireland’s largest union with members working across all sectors.
