Bmi speeds up business check in at Heathrow

A dedicated business class check-in area has been created by Bmi at Heathrow Terminal 1.

It is part of a pledge by the carrier to enable passengers to arrive at check-in as little as 30 minutes before departure with a guarantee that they will make their flight.

The new glass surround area is located on the main concourse of the terminal with check-in for business class and premium economy travellers as well as Diamond Club Gold and Silver Card holders.

Leisure passengers are also being offered a more personal service when using the area with airline staff collecting luggage and travel documents on arrival to complete check in formalities.

Bmi sales and marketing director Katherine Gershon said: “Part of our core customer offering is a quick and smooth experience through the airport and our new Premium Check-in will help to ensure we deliver on this commitment.

“The new area offers a fast track route for business class customers using our 30 minute check-in promise and also provides a spacious and relaxing area where families or larger groups can check-in at a more leisurely pace.”

Following  recent airline moves at Heathrow, Terminal 1 now handles only 14 million passengers, compared to 23 million at its peak in 2007, leading to  fewer unnecessary delays, the airline claims.
