Bmibaby announces Birmingham routes
Bmibaby has announced the first of up to 20 routes it plans to launch from a new base at Birmingham International Airport.
The no-frills arm of bmi will launch flights to Alicante, Malaga, Palma, Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Belfast (International), Knock (Connaught), Geneva and Prague from January 7.
Bmibaby is trying to boost forward bookings by offering fares from four pence each way, plus taxes and charges. The fares work out at about £25 one way to Amsterdam and £35 on other routes.
Birmingham is the sixth UK base for bmibaby, which also offers flights from Nottingham East Midlands, Manchester, Cardiff, Teesside and London Gatwick. The move will create 150 new jobs in the region according to the airline. It also says it is looking to recruit more staff later this year.
