bmibaby has record month
Bmibaby carried more than 130,000 passengers in December, a record month for the carrier.
The no-frills offspring of bmi british midland reported Edinburgh as the most popular route out of Cardiff International Airport, and Dublin the most popular out of East Midlands Airport.
Parent, and full-service schedule carrier, bmi british midland, carried 670,837 passengers in December, a 46 percent increase on December 2001. It’s fatest growing routes were those between Manchester and Scotland.
Bmibaby head of sales and marketing, Sue Underwood said: “We are very encouraged with the figures that we have seen for our first December in operation. We offer a wide range of European destinations for business and leisure travellers but the trend for December seems to be people choosing to travel on domestic routes to be with friends and family over the festive period”.
She added that skiing destinations would probably be the top routes for January. These would include Geneva, Milan (Bergamo), Munich, Nice and Salzburg.
Ms Underwood also hinted that bmibaby would be making some announcements in the near future.
Bmibaby currently serves 31 European routes from East Midlands and Cardiff. The no-frills carrier recently signed up with the GDS Galileo to try to increase bookings from agents.
