Body found as more wildfires break out in California
Thousands of people have fled their homes after two wildfires broke out north of Los Angeles.
On Saturday evening, a man’s body was found outside a house in Santa Clarita, the day after the so-called Sand Fire broke out 40 miles from the city.
More than 900 firefighters battled flames in temperatures exceeding 41C but it is feared strong winds could fan Sand Fire’s growth.
The fire destroyed sets at Sable Ranch in Santa Clarita, which is used for movie locations, and forced the evacuation of exotic animals, including a Bengal tiger, from their sanctuary at Wildlife Waystation, in the Angeles National Forest.
California has been hit by a series of wildfires throughout the summer and the Sand Fire has cast thick black smoke over much of Los Angeles.
Around 300 miles up the coast, homes near the Garrapata State Park have been evacuated in a separate wildfire.
