Bomber in Bangkok believed to be plotting attack

A man who blew off his own legs when a grenade he threw at Thai police bounced off a tree and exploded at his feet is believed to be an Iranian bomber.

Named as Saeid Moradi, he was part of a three man team who escaped from a house in Bangkok when explosives blew the roof off yesterday.

He tried to get away in a taxi, who refused to take him, and then threw a grenade at police as they gave chase which bounced back to hit him.

It is believed they may have been in the final stages of planning an attack having rented a house in the centre of Thailand for several months, reports the Daily Mail.

A passport found at the scene indicated he was from Iran.

Three Thai men and one Thai woman were injured by the blasts in the Bangkok commercial district when the grenades were thrown on to the street.

One of the other gang members, Mohammad Hazaei, was arrested at Bangkok’s international airport as he attempted to board an Air Asia flight for Malaysia.
