Booking.com rolls out cleanliness standards for rentals
Booking.com is introducing a cleanliness rating system for all alternative accommodations.
All listings must reach a minimum cleanliness score over time or they could be kicked off the platform.
Booking.com partnered with quality assurance firm Properly to implement the new system.
Accommodation partners will get resources and guidance from Properly to maintain and improve cleanliness standards.
The Minimum Cleanliness Score Commitment requires rental managers or owners to maintain a minimum score of 6 out of 10 to remain on the platform.
Properties that don’t meet these standards will be place on a warning list.
Booking.com says it could later be kicked off the platform if ratings do not improve.
"Cleanliness and comfort have always been important factors in a great stay, and today it’s even more so than ever. The introduction of our Minimal Cleanliness Score Commitment reflects our continued commitment to ensure traveler peace of mind," said Eric Bergaglia, Global Head of Booking.com Homes and Apartments.
The cleanliness score is an average of the cleanliness review ratings received from all guests.
