Brazil tourism board closes UK office
The Brazilian tourism board, Embratur, has closed its UK office as part of a strategy to promote the country solely out of Brazil.
Its country manager for the UK, Lilas Nascimento, posted a message on the business networking site LinkedIn three days ago to say she was leaving after five years.
She wrote: "Grateful to have the chance to promote Brazil representing Embratur in the UK for the last 5 years. I am happy to say the mission has been accomplished! It has been loads of work, challenges, learning, great partners and new friends along my journey in the UK. I would like to thank all colleagues from Embratur, CVA Brasil, Embassy of Brazil, Ogilvy, all partners from the UK travel trade, all partners from Brazil, family and friends."
Nascimento went on to say that she was planning ‘a new adventure’ but she didn’t specify what she will be doing.
Embratur opened several overseas offices in 2013 in the run up to hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2016.
It said this week that after five years of outsourcing contracts it will maintain contact with the international trade via its staff in Brasilia.
