Briton critically ill after Ayia Napa stabbing
More bad news for Cypriot resort after fourth knife attack in a month
The Cypriot resort of Ayia Napa is once again in the spotlight this morning with news that a 21-year-old British man is critically ill after being stabbed last night.
Two other Britons in their early 20s are presently being questioned by Cypriot police over the attack, the fourth stabbing on the island in less than a month. The BBC News website reports that the victim of the attack, who is believed to have been stabbed four times, is in a critical but stable condition at a private clinic on the island.
The attack follows several others in recent weeks; as reported by News From Abroad the spate of violence is being blamed on the UK garage music scene that has sprung up on the island over the last few years. Teenage musician Dylan Mills was stabbed earlier this month, allegedly by members of a rival “crew” from London, after he was pulled from his moped in broad daylight.
