Briton in New Zealand shark attack
A British man is recovering in hospital in New Zealand after being attacked by a shark while out surfing off the South Island.
Darren Mills, from Crawley, West Sussex, was bitten in the leg but managed to fight off the shark and ride a wave to the beach, where he was helped by an off-duty doctor and nurse until a helicopter arrived to fly him to hospital.
Mr Mills, a 28-year-old who is living in Queenstown, NZ, suffered a serious bite wound to his right leg.
He is the second person to be attacked by a shark off the South Island within the past month.
