Business travellers like Euro, research shows

UK business travellers are overwhelmingly in favour of the Euro, according to new research by Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT).

A survey by the travel management firm shows that 74% of its customers are ‘personally in favour of the Euro’, while a massive 88% believe that the single European currency will ‘simplify the travel experience in Europe’.

Over two-thirds (73%) of those surveyed said that not needing to change currencies as often was a particular benefit, while the elimination of exchange rate exposure was seen as a postive factor by 67% of those surveyed.

The company’s executive vice president north Europe Jim Tweedie commented: “The Euro has undoubtedly brought advantages to business travellers and the results of the survey are not entirely surprising. Although the UK has chosen not to enter the Euro Zone, many UK companies are doing business with countries across the region and clearly need to travel there.”

CWT sent out the questionnaire on the Euro to 160 of its travel clients, and received 143 responses.
