Canadian Affair slashes prices on back of weak dollar
Canadian Affair is predicting a 36 per cent increase in bookings to Canada next year after announcing one-way flights to Canada from £89 inclusive of tax. Prices have been slashed for summer 2005 following the falling value of the Canadian dollar – currently exchanging at 2.21 to the £ – and the operator also has hotel rooms from £8 per night. “Our fares are far cheaper than Air Canada, Air Transat or British Airways,” said a spokesman for Canadian Affair. “Last year we sent over 11,000 Brits across the North Atlantic to Canada. Next year that’s set to rise to around 150,000.” Canadian Affair offers direct flights with Thomas Cook Airlines from various UK airports to Toronto, Quebec, Ottawa, Halifax, Montreal, Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver. Canadian Affair marketing director Kathryn Munro added: ” The United Nations ranked Canada the best country in the world in which to live for eight consecutive years. “There’s also natural beauty – from the awesome Rockies to the dramatic setting of Vancouver and Victoria on the west coast to Toronto, just over six hours from the UK, on the east coast.”
