Canadian meeting space expansions now underway
Casino Windsor in Ontario is doing a $373 million expansion and renovation that includes another 100,000 square feet of convention space.
The property next year will also have a name change to Caesars Windsor.
“There won’t be any new openings now until we open the expansion property in the spring of 2008,” said Holly Ward, a spokesperson for the hotel.
The new property promises “elegant accommodations, fine dining featuring an array of cuisines, and world-class gaming,” according to the hotel.
The 758-room hotel will offer an alternative to the stand-alone convention center, according to Casino Windsor officials.
Also in Canadian meeting news, the Toronto Congress Centre is doubling its convention space to more than one million square feet. The 500,000 square foot expansion includes 40 meeting rooms and a 25,000 square foot ballroom.
In addition, the Metro Toronto Convention Centre is undergoing a $4 million expansion that will add a conference center with more than 58,000 square feet of ballroom space.
