Grenada luxury resort the Calabash Hotel and Villas has opened a dedicated UK sales office.

The Norwich-based unit will support a 2009 promotional campaign run by the resort’s existing UK marketing representative Essential Detail.

Staff at the new office will work with Essential Detail to further raise the profile of the Calabash property by increasing awareness amongst operators and travel agents of its facilities, including a new Heaven and Earth spa, new villas and Gary Rhodes restaurant.

Helen Edwards and Annette Quinn, the directors of Essential Detail, will be working with the new Calabash office manager John Garbutt, who until recently ran a travel agency and was chairman of the East Anglia and Essex regions of Worldchoice.

The Calabash’s Leo Garbutt said: “This is a bold step for us and one that we have been discussing with Essential Detail for some time.

“Essential Detail has established us in the UK market as one of the most talked about and popular luxury resorts in the West Indies and the opening of a dedicated sales office will, we are confident, help raise our profile even further.

“In the current climate, with many organisations being circumspect, we have decided to be brave and be a step ahead in these uncertain times.”

The new Calabash office is at 203a Plumstead Road, Norwich NR1 4AB, tel. 01603 701017.
