Carnival Cruise Line to make first calls in Africa next year
Carnival Cruise Line will make first ever port calls in Africa during the 2027/28 Mediterranean and North Africa deployment of Carnival Sunshine.
From late May 2027 through October 2027, Carnival Sunshine will sail the Mediterranean and call at Tunisia, and Morocco, its first visits to the African continent.
These will be week-long sailings with some longer cruises out of Barcelona and Civitavecchia, Italy.
There will be port calls in Spain, France, Italy, Turkey and Montenegro.
These are coupled with stops at La Goulette Tunisia, and Tangier, Morocco.
“We’re excited to bring Carnival Sunshine to an expanded lineup of destinations to explore Europe and beyond,” said president Christine Duffy.
“With our first-ever African ports, new European calls, and an eclipse sailing, this deployment delivers variety, adventure, and memorable experiences.”
A key highlight is a solar eclipse cruise departing in late July, 2027, from Barcelona, for the main eclipse viewing on August 2, 2027.
This sailing also visits Marseilles, Genoa, Salerno, and Catania, Malta; and La Goulette, Tunisia.
Prior to the European deployment, Carnival Sunshine will make a 15-day transatlantic crossing to Dover, and then on to Barcelona. Following the season, Sunshine heads to Miami.
