Carnival names next Excel-class ship Celebration
Carnival Cruise Line announced its second Excel-Class ship will be named Celebration, as it launches in its 50th anniversary year.
The sister ship to the Mardi Gras will begin sailing from PortMiami in 2022.
Like the Mardi Gras, the Carnival Celebration name is another blast from the past.
Celebration was a popular ship in Carnival’s early years.
"The name Carnival Celebration couldn’t be more perfect for a ship that will be a key component of our 50th Birthday festivities," said Christine Duffy, President of Carnival Cruise Line.
The ship will feature the second BOLT roller coaster at sea, after Mardi Gras.
Celebration arrives in Miami in November 2022 and the ship’s itinerary details will be announced in the next few weeks.
Cruises will open for sale in October, the cruise line said.
