Carnival Spirit shifting from Australia to Florida
Carnival Corp has lost patience with the continued uncertainty around the Australian cruise restart.
It is redeploying Carnival Spirit to Jacksonville, Florida, to restart cruising on March 7.
The ship has been based in Sydney for several years and was due to homeport at the new Brisbane International Cruise Terminal.
Carnival Australia this week announced a further cruise pause for Carnival Spirit and Carnival Splendor until June because of the ongoing sailing ban.
Spirit is shifting to the US because of ‘the overwhelming success of the resumption of cruising in the US and the continued uncertainty in Australia, with operations still on pause,’ the company said.
Carnival Spirit replaces Carnival Ecstasy, which be deployed at Mobile, Alabama in March.
