CDC lowers cruise ship risk advisory
The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention has again downgraded the risk level for cruise ship travel.
It was lowered to ‘Level 2 – moderate risk.’
The agency continues to urge everyone to get fully vaccinated and ‘should be avoided’ for people not fully jabbed.
“Getting vaccinated is still the best way to protect yourself from severe disease, slow the spread of Covid, and reduce the number of new variants,” it said.
“For travelers booking cruise travel now, be aware that the level may change as the Covid-19 pandemic evolves.”
The CDC revision comes as many cruise lines are lifting the need to wear masks in most public areas.
However, the CDC and the cruise lines still recommend wearing a mask during crowded settings on the ship.
“While CDC is exercising its enforcement discretion under the Mask Order to not require that persons wear a mask under certain circumstances, individual cruise lines may require travelers to wear masks onboard the ship.”
