CECTA helps put Slovakia on industry map
Over 150 people attended the Slovak Embassy on Tuesday for the launch of a new initiative to put Slovakia on the map for the British travel industry.
Hosted by Frantisek Dlhopolcek, Slovak Ambassador to London, the evening included presentations from the Slovak National Tourist Office, Bratislava and the Slovak Health Spa at Piestany, and highlighted the inward investment opportunities that Slovakia offers.
Gill Wilson, CEO of The Central European Countries Travel Association (CECTA), told delegates what was needed to galvanise the British trade into action. She said: “Whilst pictures and words can tell a story, the British travel industry needed to see, touch and feel the country for themselves. They must go and see the huge developments that are taking place. They need to whet the appetites of the British Traveller, who has no concept as to where Slovakia was, let alone what was on offer.
“Slovaks have a saying, ‘Come as a visitor, leave as a friend’, and that is a message that needs delivering.”
Ivana Magatova, Director of the Slovak National Tourist Office said: “Slovakia became a CECTA member because of the opportunity to work in co-operation with all the countries in Central Europe and the travel trade within. It offered a cost-effective solution for exposure in a wider market place.”
CECTA is an umbrella organisation that aims to bring together the collective interests of Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Slovakia and Poland and the travel industry servicing them.
