Celebrity cancels Istanbul port calls
Celebrity Cruises has followed the lead of Costa Cruises by canceling calls at Istanbul, Turkey, over security fears.
Celebrity Reflection will skip its overnight stop in Istanbul on Friday September 4 and Saturday September 5 to be replaced by an overnight in Athens.
The cruise line said the decision was taken ‘in an abundance of caution’.
An overnight call in Istanbul by sister ship Celebrity Equinox on Monday (August 24) was also canceled.
Costa Cruises has already pulled all stops in Istanbul for the rest of this year following a terrorist attack there earlier this month.
It has also canceled calls at the Turkish city of Izmir.
Other cruise lines are scheduled to visit the city in the coming weeks but have not yet announced any changes to their itineraries.
