Celebrity speakers at meetings? Not necessary

Friday, 28 Feb, 2012 0

Those very popular meeting celebrity speakers? An amazing 94% think they’re not very important.

So says a P&MM study that also revealed that 61% of respondents to its Metric report don’t believe their company provides enough non-salary incentives.

A "staggering" 64% of employers do not consult with their audience before deciding on the type of reward they are going to offer their staff and customers.

"Yet almost 100% of organizations have stated objectives to increase their engagement with their staff and customer channels," adds the study

Another finding: less than 5% of event budgets are devoted to pre-event communications yet 89% of respondents rated pre-event marketing as very important or essential to the success of a meeting.

Other findings included that 67% of staff would prefer to be with their spouse or partner on an incentive trip than with their colleagues.

In the last three years, repeat annual events have had their budgets frozen at the same level or even seen a percentage cut.

Their research showed that 27% of event managers expect budgets to decrease while, at the same time, 41% believe their attendee numbers are set to rise, the report found.

P&MM based in the UK describes itself as an award-winning marketing services agency that specializes in performance improvement.
