Charlotte picks up convention pace with NASCAR addition
The city of Charlotte’s victory in the battle of where to place the NASCAR Hall of Fame is certain to be a boost to its convention business.
The Hall of Fame will be built into the block adjacent to the convention center.
The area continues to grow with the center city density expected to double in the next three years.
The Charlotte Convention Center has also regularly added space. It now has more than 280,000 square feet of exhibit space with more than 90,000 square feet of exhibit space.
There are 4,100 guest rooms in the city with the largest meeting hotel the 700-room Westin Charlotte. The hotel is located just 15 minutes from the Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
The local Hilton is going through a renovation. Both Starwood’s W Brand and the Ritz-Carlton are breaking ground for new hotels.
