China Airlines will fly daily to Ontario International
Even though it hasn’t launched yet, China Airlines is expanding its nonstop flights between Taiwan and Ontario International Airport.
Last year the airline announced four weekly flights from Taiwan Taoyuan International to the LA area airport but now says strong demand makes daily service viable.
The service remains on schedule to officially launch on March 25 as planned.
"They have seen an increase in demand and we already know that other mainland China airlines have expressed interest," said Alan Wapner, president of the Ontario International Airport Authority.
CAL, which is the first Asian carrier to serve the airport, will fly the route using Boeing 777 aircraft.
At the time of the announcement CAL said it chose Ontario International for its proximity to several Southern California Chinese communities.
The airport serves a catchment area of about 10 million Southern California residents in the Inland Empire, northern Orange County, and eastern Los Angeles County.
