China’s National Day holiday traffic declines
China saw tourist trips decline 18% during the recent week-long National Day holidays due to still active Covid-19 curbs around the country.
China recorded 422 million tourist trips overall, which was 60.7% of the pre-Covid levels, according to data from China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Domestic tourism revenues were down 26% at US$40.37 billion.
Southwest China’s Yunnan province and the northwest region of Xinjiang were two areas with ongoing outbreaks leading to lockdowns with tourists unable to leave their hotels.
