Chinese carriers planning direct flights to Caribbean
China will get is first direct air route to the Caribbean later this year, after Air China announced the launch of flights from Beijing to Havana, Cuba.
The route will start September 28 and will operate three times a week with a refueling stop in Montreal.
The airline says this will significantly cut travel time for Chinese travelers who currently have to change planes in Europe or Canada.
China Eastern Airlines is also looking at possible direct flights to the Caribbean.
The airline’s general manager Liu Shaoyong said it will conduct a feasibility study for charter flights from China to the Bahamas following a meeting in China with Bahamian Prime Minister Perry Christie.
