CIMTIG lecture to reveal 2010 buying patterns

Saturday, 22 Feb, 2010 0

Understanding the mind of the travelling consumer in 2010 will be the focus of the next CIMTIG lecture.

The event will see the British Travel Awards reveal the results from its wide-ranging survey of UK consumer related behaviour. The survey attracted 15,000 responses.

BTA chief executive Lorraine Barnes Burton will expand upon the results which will be underpinned by acquisition data from market intelligence experts GfK Ascent.

Travel journalist Simon Calder will also attend the event to comment on the findings.

Travel Vision 2010 – Understanding Consumer Behaviour looks at the length of holidays people take, how far they fly, who books early and who books late and how they book their holiday, whether it be dynamically via an agent or online.

Barnes Barton said: “The 2009 BTA survey was conducted when the stranglehold of the recession was being felt by even the most prolific holiday-spending groups – but having perhaps tightened their belts for the 2009 holiday season and erring on the side of caution in the face of possible financial constraints, I’m looking forward to delivering an interesting picture emerging for 2010 as it appears set to make amends for their reduced holiday time and expenditure in 2009.”

The event takes place on February 25 from 6pm to 8.30pm at The Travel Club, 4 St James Square in central London. Tickets cost £60 plus VAT and include refreshments.
