CIRSE 2009 Annual Congress to be held in Lisbon this month

The Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE) will hold its annual congress in Lisbon from 19 and 23 September 2009.
The congress, which is expected to be attended by over 5,000 participants, follows in the footsteps of previous editions held each year and will be one of the largest scientific congresses ever held in Lisbon.
Headquartered in Vienna, CIRSE is a prestigious non-profit, educational and scientific association representing physicians and scientists who are interested and strongly involved in interventional radiology and cardiovascular imaging techniques.
Over the years, CIRSE has forged strong alliances between national societies to safeguard the interests of interventional radiology on a global scale. As a result more and more intervention radiology societies from around the world are joining CIRSE, making it an increasingly global network, with almost 4,000 individual members from over 70 countries. The CIRSE annual meeting has grown strongly over the years, with its scientific programme continuously setting new standards of excellence.
Kuoni Destination Management and its associated company BuzzPortugal Destination Management were appointed to handle the logistics of the congress in Lisbon.
Hildrun Rinner–Oliva, Head of Congress Department Europe says: “After Nice (2005), Rome (2006), Athens (2007) and Copenhagen (2008), Kuoni Destination Management is proud to support CIRSE for the 5th consecutive year as its official accommodation partner and in the organisation of all official social events”. Looking back we think that the secret to our excellent and continuous partnership with CIRSE is Kuoni’s global network, which enables international associations like CIRSE to travel to any destination with us. Our central congress monitoring performed by our congress headquarters based in Vienna ensures uniformity and identical high level of service throughout all of our destinations. And of course our personal, long standing relationship with CIRSE guarantees expertise and know-how when it comes to our customer’s requirements. This year, with Buzz Portugal we found the ideal local partner to fulfil CIRSE’s needs. A marvellous social programme has been worked out enabling CIRSE’s congress delegates to enjoy the delights of this beautiful host city Lisbon. We very much look forward to the CIRSE congress in Lisbon, while already thinking of our next project – CIRSE 2010 in Valencia.”
Luis Monteiro D’Aguiar, Managing Director, BuzzPortugal said: “CIRSE is one of Europe’s major medical societies and its prestigious annual congress, organised years in advance, is a major event for any city which is chosen as a host. BuzzPortugal is proud to be associated with its organisation, despite fierce competition from several major European cities. Together with our partner Kuoni Destination Management, we have worked on this a good 12 months to ensure the congress runs smoothly and efficiently. Lisbon has become a leading MICE destination in Europe and BuzzPortugal strives for Portugal to continue to be the destination of choice for prestigious organisations such as CIRSE”.
