Citing toxic political climate, Trump Organization ditches new hotel brands

Trump Organization is abandoning plans for new hotel chains, Scion and American Idea, finally acknowledging the Trump name is not great for business.

The brands are being shelved indefinitely, or at least until Donald Trump vacates the White House.

Trump Org cites a prejudiced political environment.

"We live in a climate where everything will be used against us, whether by the fake news or by Democrats who are only interested in presidential harassment," bemoaned Eric Trump.

"We already have the greatest properties in the world and if we have to slow down our growth for the time being, we are happy to do it."

Trump managed hotels have become a focal point for protests, while they have been under intense legal scrutiny over accusations Donald Trump is profiteering from the Presidency.

Trump Organization had teamed up with hoteliers Dinesh and Suresh Chawla with one hotel in Mississippi currently under construction.

Deals for Scion brand hotels in Dallas and St. Louis faced opposition and elsewhere development partners were reluctant to collaborate due to the toxic Trump name, the New York Times reports.

Trump Organization was even paid to remove its name from properties in Toronto and New York, while there was a spectacular falling out with the owner of a Trump hotel in Panama.
