Coming tourist attraction to North America: river cruising
River cruising, still in its infancy in North America in part because the ships lack the amenities of ocean liners, is taking a major step forward with the announcement of Jewel River Cruise Line.
Industry veteran Albert Peter and a team of seasoned cruise executives announced the new venture, which will start next year with six vessels divided into three distinct market segments.
The cruise line plans to offer a boutique luxury level of service and amenities with all-suite ships offering roomy accommodations.
“The river cruise market is experienced a tremendous boom and we are creating a new collection of river cruise brands with the goal of being the dominate player in the industry,” said Mr Peter. He added:
“We see the potential of river cruising as being so much more than a means of transportation from one beautiful port to another, but rather, a truly experiential way to explore some of the world’s most fascinating destinations.”
Features of the ships will be superior dining a spa, exclusive access to shore side events and others.
The market for the new venture is expected to include not only first-time passengers but also ocean cruisers who are looking for similar travel venues.
The first port outing will involve the River Seine. Reservations will be accepted as of January, with detailed itinerary and fare information to be announced soon through the company’s web site,
